Making Millions the Easy Way (Part 1 of 5)

Cool's Site: www.xploremagic.com http MIT's students (the most feared card counters in the world) breaks las vegas using card counting. In the mid-1990s, a team of American science students took on the might of the Las Vegas casinos, and came home with millions of dollars. Hardworking engineering students during the week, they became high-rolling gamblers by the weekend and proved that, in one game at least, the house doesn't always win. The game was blackjack, and the students were from the world-renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Their audacious winnings marked the climax of an arms race between casino and player that began 40 years earlier with maths professor Edward Thorp. He realised that the one feature of blackjack that made it different from other casino games also made it possible to beat...

Making Gold With Engineering in Cataclysm

Engineering is referred to the black sheep of gold making professions. During Wrath of the Lich King a lot of people picked up Engineering to make their faction's version of the passenger motorcycle (Mekgineer's Chopper and Mechano-Hog). Engineering has also been refereed to as a selfish profession, mostly only benefiting yourself with neat things like parachute cloaks and bombs that can be thrown to stun a group. There are a few ways to make some steady gold with Engineering though, and since not a lot of people use this profession to make gold, you're not going to find a lot of competition.

There are a few items that you can make that will sell mostly for their novelty value on the auction house. They are not really useful (except the fishing stuff) but if you can make them and post them, you should. For a few Obsidium, Alicite and Savage Leather you can make a set of Authentic Jr. Engineer Goggles, which do nothing but look nice on a level 6 or higher character. Check your auction house to see what these are selling for.

You can also make a Lure Master Tackle Box, which most serious fishermen will need at least 4 of. These cost a bunch of Obsidium and Elementium and should sell for a big profit on your auction house. You might not see anyone else posting these. Post at least 4 of them at a time and if no one else has posted them just double or triple the amount it cost you to make it. There is also the Heat Treated Spinning Lure which any serious fishermen will also need a handful of.

These novelty items also include the companions offered by Engineers. Some of these require you to find a difficult to obtain or randomly found recipe to be able to make. You should try to collect and make as many as you can as an Engineer, here's a list of the non-combat companions that you can make: Mechanical Squirrel, Pet Bombling, Lil' Smoky, Tranquil Mechanical Yeti, Lifelike Mechanical Toad, the Personal World Destroyer and the De-Weaponized Mechanical Companion. These all have various sources and values, take a look to see if they are being sold on your auction house and see if they are a value to make.

There are also a few ranged weapons and ranged weapon enchants that you can make and supply on your auction house. For enchants, take a look at the R19 Threatfinder, the Safety Catch Removal Kit and Gnomish X-Ray Scope. For weapons, look at the Finely-Tuned Throat Needler, Volatile Thunderstick, Kickback 5000 and the Overpowered Chicken Splitter. These 7 items can be sold on the auction house for a good profit and they will all save new hunters some time.

Finally, one interesting item you might be able to make a profit off of is the Loot-a-Rang, which may sell on your realm to new characters leveling through Engineering. However, a lot of new players don't know how this item so it might not sell that well on its own.

What is Cardboard Engineering? From Box Making to POS to Hobby to Interactive Marketing Products

What is cardboard engineering? The term doesn't exist on Wikipedia. Web searches for "definition of cardboard engineering" and other similar questions find no results. You will not find "cardboard engineering" on any US site (they call it paperboard but "paperboard engineering" cannot be found either.) And yet, if you put "cardboard engineering" into Google.com it reports over 3,000,000 results, whilst a search for "cardboard engineers" produces 1,740,000 results.

So, back to the original question - what is cardboard engineering? In order to find out, let's take a look at these diversified examples - all producing quite different things but each area describing itself as being involved in cardboard engineering.

Companies who make cardboard boxes and packaging employ cardboard engineering skills to create products which might range from a fairly ordinary rectangular box to a highly innovative product to act as a presentation pack. The term "cardboard engineering" also seems to cover closing mechanisms with names like crash lock bottoms, side panel locks and tuck lock tops.

Companies involved in producing point of sale products also utilise cardboard engineering techniques in the design of POS units from giant floor standing displays to counter top dispensers. Larger POS companies employ highly sophisticated CAD design systems, cutting plotters and large format printers in their design departments and work in a variety of materials which can include corrugated board, display board and folding box board.

There are lots of cardboard engineers who utilise their skills as a hobby, creating models and automata. This group is closely related to others with crafts and hobby interest in paper engineering, card making, making books by hand and origami. These groups actually account for the largest numbers of participants with millions of world-wide enthusiasts.

However, there is one area where cardboard engineering can create quite a stir - particularly in the world of Business to Business promotional marketing. Using a combination of skills gleaned from the various worlds of paper engineering, promotional packaging, paper crafts, structural packaging and the technology involved in designing pop-up books; the cardboard engineered items produced for the promotions and advertising market are perhaps the most intriguing.

Products in this area have the most amazing movements. There are pop-up products which are powered by rubber bands which come in all shapes and sizes. They are often used in direct marketing and jump out of the mailing pack to give the addressee a big surprise. There are other products with really sophisticated movements that grow bigger when opened or they can turn and spin. There are many interactive products designed to hold the interest of the B2B customer. One UK company with a large range of examples such as these is Whitney Woods.

So, what is cardboard engineering? Well, having taken a long, hard look at the top results for the search of "cardboard engineering", it seems to boil down to a term that covers the design of any three dimensional object that is made out of cardboard - from boxes and display units to making models and to producing promotional advertising products.
